Halloween fun all over the East Bay

Kids of all ages love Halloween, and there's heaps of Halloween fun to be had in the East Bay. From storytime for youngsters to costume parties for grown-ups, here's our harum scarum list of East Bay Halloween actvities.

Storytime with the Farmer at Forest Home Farms

Calling all little Halloween farmers! Have a spooktacular time at Forest Home Farms, hearing stories, singing songs, doing a craft and enjoying some refreshments. After the program you can visit the pumpkin patch

Thursday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, but only children need to register. Pre-register by calling the San Ramon Community Center at (925) 973-3200 or online at http://www.sanramonrecguide.com/(SR residents only).  Cost is $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents. Activity #56165, Ages 3-5. Space is limited.

Halloween Frights at Gyro’s 4-D Fear Factory

In time for Halloween, Kerner Mobile Technologies has transformed Concord’s Waterworld amusement park into “Gyro’s 4-D Fear Factory,” a walk-through 3-D movie populated with both holographic and live monsters.
 
“It’s the ultimate scary experience,” says Kerner CEO Dan Nelson.  “You get to walk through a 3-D environment filled with vampires and villains from all the most famous fright flicks.  Anything can happen – and we see that it does!”

The four walk-through spooky experiences include:

4-D Underworld – “A 4-D haunted experience exploring the dark world of vampires, werewolves, spiders, bats, and much more.”  This is the first 4-D haunted attraction in the world.
Dead Man’s Cove – “Beware the undead denizens of ghost ships, come to claim lost treasure…and your soul!”
Return to Sleep Away Camp – “The original cult classic!  An outdoor camp replica of the horror classic Sleep Away Camp films.”  Features a behind-the-scenes peek at the new movie in 3-D clips.
HorrorWood Theater – “A haunted maze that brings creep-seekers face-to-face with infamous horror movie characters like Freddy Jason, Leatherface…and more”

The Old Black Magic XII Halloween Party
 
This is your opportunity to purchase tickets to the KKIQ & KKDV sponsored "That Old Blackhawk Magic" Halloween Dance. For over a decade the Friday before Halloween has belonged to Blackhawk. Featuring costume contests, a litany of libations, finger foods and DJ dancing, there is no other Halloween party to rival this.

Tri-Valley High: Episodes of Terror

The City of Pleasanton Parks and Community Services Department brings you the Tri-Valley’s first improvised horror show, "Tri Valley High: Episodes of Terror". Join teen improv troupe, Creatures of Impulse, and help them create the story, setting and characters for two nights of fun, interactive, and completely un-scripted theater.

California Independent Film Festival’s Haunted House

Dania Hall, which is reportedly haunted and has been known for strange and mysterious happenings, is the location for the California Independent Film Festival’s haunted house. If you listen closely, you can still hear the music and laughter from 100 years ago! Don't be afraid! Come see for yourself.

Profits benefit the California Independent Film Festival, coming to Livermore in April 2009 and the Children's International Film Festival held in May.

Recommended 8 years and older.  Younger children can go through during the downtown trick or treat time with the lights on.

Downtown Walnut Creek Halloween Trick-Or-Treat

The Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association and Broadway Plaza are proud to announce the first-ever downtown Trick-or-Treat. Come and get as much candy as you want at all participating locations around downtown Walnut Creek—just remember to wear your costume!

Haunted Barn

The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District has created a Haunted Barn with a guided 10-minute tour. The Guide will lead groups of 4 -5 people through scary rooms and hallways hoping to bring lots of screams, chills, and fun. The Haunted Barn is scary so we have a recommendation for ages 10 and up.
